2024 Top 10 Photos of the Year
This past year I have had to privilege of making more connections and capturing so many wonderful moments and events. Here are my top 10 photos of the year and the stories behind them!
10).
I brought my mom, my sister, and her friend to accompany me in scoping out this new (to me) photography location. They brought their puppy along, who was an angel behind camera, and all smiles the entire time.
I loved the atmosphere of this flower farm and all the photography spots the farm had preset.
9).
After scheduling ahead of time, these tree farm photos happened to fall on the coldest day of the season at a whopping 19 degrees fahrenheit.
We fought through tears and runny noses to get through this mini session, and eventually captured a smile from this little guy.
8).
After breaking my tripod while setting up to take some family photos, my husband stepped behind the camera to capture this photo of me and my sister together at the tree farm. I like how the main focus of the photo is us, but with a bit of the tree in the foreground.
7).
After capturing family photos in 2023, I thought that capturing my nephew's 2 year old photos would be a breeze. I learned very quickly when it comes to little ones never expect anything.
After 45 minutes of not wanting to sit for photos, I was able to capture some cute candids as he walked around doing his own thing.
6).
This has to be one of the happiest babies I have ever worked with! This photo was taken the same day as the previous little boy (Photo 9), only later in the afternoon, so about 6 degrees warmer.
I very quickly got to work snapping photos before it got to cold and the tears started rolling. By the end of the mini session, very few tears were shed and she was ready to be back in the warm car.
Honorable Mentions:
Christmas Eve Service
Candle Light Service has always been a favorite of mine year after year. I was so excited when I was asked to photograph it this year!
Walt's First Christmas
In August my husband and I added another kitten to our family. This past christmas was his very first and he immediately started climbing the tree as soon as it was put up.
Winter Walk
A couple weeks before Christmas, I took my youngest dog for a winter photography walk, and she posed for the pictures every time I would stop to capture one.
First Baptism
I had the privilege of capturing many baptisms this past year, but this one was one of my favorites to capture as it was among the first set of baptisms I got to photograph and I love the joy I was able to capture in this moment.
5).
This photo was taken at one of the youth event's I got to capture this year. Breaking off into different team colors, the youth group competed in many color themed games for the opportunity to pie their youth pastor in the face. This game of twister was a color mess and a victory for the Blue team.
4).
My sister celebrated her last year of high school, taking senior pictures at the beach. The weekend before the beach closed for the season, we hopped in the car and arrived early to capture some golden hour photos.
Her puppy, Mae, decided to dig her nose in the sand, giving herself a little mustache for the remainder of the photos.
3).
While doubling as photographer and youth leader at the Youth Kalahari Retreat, I felt so honored to have captured God moving in this moment.
This was such a special moment of worship with both students and the youth pastor.
2).
During the candle light service, God's presence was in the room. As the room gets dark and the worship team starts singing "Silent Night", The only light around the sanctuary is in the candle light.
In this moment I was truly able to capture the light in the moment as the room fills with song celebrating the reason for the christmas season.
1).
During the last youth conference of 2024, I got to capture my sister worshiping on stage. This is my favorite photo, not because it's my sister, but because she is comfortable enough in her relationship with God to openly worship.
I have seen many adults and youth afraid to openly worship, even looking board on stage. I love this picture because she isn't just singing for the people in the room, she is praising God through her gifts.
Until Next Year
It doesn't suprise me that my top 3 photos from 2024 are all in moments of worship. I truly believe that some of the best photos I capture all come from a place where God is moving in the atmosphere.
I can't wait to see what 2025 holds, but these moments frozen in time will always hold a special place in my heart!
